“Ms. Gold roams at ease through the most difficult and recondite topics, like an Indiana Jones of the world of letters.” –-Neal Stephenson
I'm a researcher, writer, and editor with an unusual and eclectic range of knowledge, skills, and experience. I especially like doing creative research for writers of fiction or nonfiction and teaching classes on creative research. I also write and edit all kinds of print and web content, and I'm available for projects large or small.
My “Creative Research for Writers” Class
I will be teaching a 6-hour "Creative Research for Writers" class on Sunday, October 25th at Richard Hugo House in Seattle. Here's the description: "Creative research can help writers of fiction and nonfiction with inspiration, storytelling, and world-building whether they are writing about the past, present, or future, about life on earth or an imaginary world. We'll discuss the relationship between research and writing, different types of research writers may need to do, practical tips and advice on doing research, and how and where to find useful and unusual sources of information on the Web, in books, databases, and libraries, and in unexpected places." (I'll post the registration information once I have it. Please contact me if you have any questions.)
My focus will be on the art and science of research and identifying useful sources of information. Along the way I'll post on other subjects of interest, such as writing, editing, publishing, authors, and books of all kinds (new, old, and rare). I welcome your comments, questions, and recommendations of interesting reference books and websites.
