I offer a variety of research and editorial services:
- Research, fact-checking, and information services. I am an experienced and creative researcher, skilled in using both old and new reference sources and technologies (not just the Internet, but books and libraries, too). I especially like working with writers of either fiction or non-fiction.
- Editorial services. I write and edit all kinds of content for print and the web, primarily for businesses and nonprofit organizations. I also rewrite existing material, translate jargon and technobabble into clear English, and offer advice on website redesigns.
- Research workshops and classes. I teach writers how to do creative research and find sources of information through public and private classes and individual coaching. I’ve spoken about research for writers of science fiction and fantasy for the Clarion West Writers Workshop, fact-checking for the Northwest Independent Editors Guild, and blogging for the March 2009 Editors Guild conference. In May 2009 I taught a 4-hour “Research for Writers” class at Richard Hugo House. I will be teaching a 6-hour “Creative Research for Writers” class at Hugo House on Sunday, October 25, 2009 (details to come).
I am available for projects large or small, as needed or on an ongoing basis. My services are billed by the hour. Please contact me for more information.
